Hope's Sunrise
In his debut novel, Hope’s Sunrise, John Gary Long delivers an inspiring story of love, betrayal, and second chances. At the heart of the novel is Dr. Hope Castillo, a brilliant psychologist and fierce advocate for young women, who is still haunted by a devastating betrayal: her fiancé left her for her sister, Rachel, shattering their once-unbreakable bond and driving Hope to the brink of despair. Years later, Hope is forced to face her past when Rachel reemerges—married to the charismatic yet deeply flawed Pastor Caleb Moore, a man whose public image hides dangerous secrets.
As Hope confronts the painful collision of family, faith, and forgiveness, she finds herself drawn to Justin Thompson, a widowed father whose quiet strength and compassion awaken feelings she thought she had buried forever. Their relationship, tender and cautious, unfolds against the backdrop of Hope’s battle to protect her sister from Caleb’s manipulation and to heal the fractured ties of their family.
Set in Houston’s vibrant church community, Hope’s Sunrise blends romance and inspirational fiction with an unflinching look at resilience, redemption, and the power of new beginnings. Long’s storytelling shines a light on the complicated beauty of sisterhood, the courage to confront past wounds, and the faith required to step into a brighter future.
More than a love story, Hope’s Sunrise is a testament to survival and the belief that even after the darkest night, the sunrise brings hope, healing, and the possibility of love renewed.
Hi, I’m John Gary Long
Thank you for stopping by to learn more about my debut novel Hope’s Sunrise.
I’ve always believed that love, faith, and perseverance can light even the darkest corners of our lives. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio, and after more than 25 years building a rewarding career as a corporate executive, I finally stepped into a lifelong dream I’d carried quietly for decades—becoming a writer. Today, I call Houston home, and I pour my heart into stories that uplift, inspire, and remind readers that new beginnings are always possible.
Founding FearNot Media was my way of championing a belief that has guided me throughout my life: fear should never keep us from what we’re meant to do. That philosophy shaped my award-winning short film The Night We Died, and it continues to influence the way I write fiction—deeply human stories rooted in resilience, compassion, and grace.
At the center of everything I do is my family. I’ve been married to my wife, Lisa, for more than 25 years, and she has been my greatest partner, supporter, and grounding force. Together we’ve raised two incredible children who inspire me daily. The love we share and the life we’ve built are constant reminders of what truly matters, and those themes show up again and again in my work.
Hope’s Sunrise, my debut novel, is a reflection of those values and experiences—a story about healing, faith, forgiveness, and the transformative power of unconditional love.
Through my writing, I hope to offer readers what life has offered me: hope, second chances, and the courage to rise again.
